Cafeteria

Little English cups, clay mugs, shiny plates;

Only heavy china,

Every one steaming.

Earth colours on pastry delights;

Sweet tooth cravings satisfied;

Finger foods with crumbly surfaces,

Baked, fried and greasy snacks;

Delicacies from the Mediterranean coast-

Delicacies from everywhere, really.

Deep reds, black blacks and a splash of yellow;

Disorderly noises-

Of cutlery, crockery and men,

Humming,

Occasionally.

Loud orders over the steaming chef-

Some animals are indeed more equal than others!
